New York City FC today announced that New York City-based artist Sarah Morris will create an original artwork for Etihad Park as one of several artists contributing to the stadium’s public art program.

Known for her geometric paintings and site-specific works inspired by the architecture, energy and psychology of urban environments, Morris will create a unique artwork focusing upon Queens and New York City.

At Etihad Park, Morris responds to the charged relationship between the crowd and the event, rendering the energy and its spectatorship into a permanent, shared wall painting for the public that gathers and passes by the Southeast Entrance to this new landmark of Queens.

“I am thrilled to contribute to Etihad Park’s public art program,” said Sarah Morris. “As a New Yorker, I’m honored to be part of the identity of the city’s first soccer stadium, and to create a distinctive welcome to the ‘beautiful game’ each time they visit the stadium.”

Morris’s work has been exhibited internationally, including The Museum of Modern Art, Tate Modern, Centre Pompidou, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Moderna Museet, M+ Hong Kong, and Fondation Beyeler.

Morris is one of several artists who will contribute to Etihad Park, bringing to life the vision for the stadium as a place that celebrates the character, culture and energy of New York City. Additional details about the other artists and their artworks will be shared at a later date.

Etihad Park, the future home of New York City FC, is scheduled to open in spring of 2027 and will become New York City’s first-ever soccer-specific stadium. Designed as a year-round destination for sports, entertainment, and community programming, the stadium will anchor a broader redevelopment at Willets Point in Queens and create a dynamic new neighborhood for the city.
