New York City FC today announced that its MLS NEXT Pro affiliate, New York City FC II, has signed Academy product El Hadji Samb through 2028. The Forward will then join the First Team as a Homegrown on an MLS contract through the 2029-2030 season with options through 2031-2032.
The 16-year-old has earned regular opportunities with New York City FC II during the 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season, making nine starts across 12 appearances, recording two goals and four assists.
“We’re excited to have El Hadji continue his career with New York City FC,” said Sporting Director Todd Dunivant. “Since progressing through our Academy, El Hadji has made a positive impact with New York City FC II this season, and we’re looking forward to supporting his continued growth as he progresses toward the First Team.”
The Forward joined New York City’s Academy in 2023 and has since progressed through the Club’s player pathway, debuting with the Second Team in April 2026 and recording a first MLS NEXT Pro goal and assist in the New Yorkers second appearance for the Pigeons.
