It wasn’t the result NYCFC wanted but one of the upshots of the 2-2 draw with New England Revolution was the impact made by Miguel Camargo.
On as a 63rd minute substitute, the Panamanian international forward made his presence felt with his first MLS goal just three minutes later which saw his team retake the lead.
The 23-year old joined from Chorillo on loan in the offseason and has had to be patient for opportunities to show his abilities but he left a lasting impression on Wednesday night.
Key Moment
The timing of Miguel’s run to the back post was perfect and the stooping header from Maxi Moralez’s excellent cross beat Brad Knighton in the Revolution goal via a small deflection.
The delight of Camargo’s teammates was there for all to see as they swamped the Panamanian in the celebrations which followed.
Sadly, it didn’t prove to be the winning goal but it was surely one that will imbue him with confidence to take into the next run of games, at home and in New Jersey, over the next month.

“It was a very difficult game. Back and forth. Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the three points but we have to look forward and get ready for the next game. It’s my first goal. I’d like to thank God for this beautiful goal.
“I’d prefer a thousand times not to score and to win the game but that’s how things played out. We have to keep working and this gives me more confidence going forward.”
