Community People - Chelsea

At the 2020 ESPY’s, ESPN announced City in the Community (CITC) Young Leader, Chelsea Quito, as one of only a select few people nationwide to receive the 2020 Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award for her humanitarian efforts with New York City Football Club (NYCFC).

Chelsea is a first-generation Ecuadorian American residing in the South Bronx, the poorest Congressional District in the United States. Chelsea paved a path forward by joining NYCFC and quickly became a member of the Foundation’s Youth Leadership and Enterprise Program.

Community People - Nayelly & Fredy

Nayelly Rodriguez and Fredy Sorto are two Community Coaches that are giving back to their community through the power of soccer.

Nayelly is an Assistant Coach who got involved with City in the Community through the Saturday Night Lights program. She’s also taken part in soccer training and building out the curriculum book, Healthy Hat-Trick.

Fredy started off as an assistant coach after being involved in the Young Leader Program. From there, he’s taken part in coaching events with NYCFC, Soccer Bloc, the Community Cup and the Consulate Cup.

Community People - Rumaiz Ahmed

Rumaiz Ahmed is keen to give back to his community through the power of soccer, and was recently given an honorable mention for the Billie Jean King Youth Leadership Award by The ESPY Awards for work performed in his local community.

Rumaiz was introduced to CITC through SNL. He then moved on to the Young Leader Training program where he received a certificate that certified him as a CITC coach. From there, he went to the Cyber Island program to work on Stem programming which then led him to work on the StreetGols app.

Community People - Stan Harmon

Stan Harmon has been changing lives in his Brooklyn community through the beautiful game.

He's been in the community for 30 years and is currently the director and coach of Central Brooklyn Soccer in New York.
